My god daughter is getting married and my son is in the wedding party. What is the appropriate amount to give at a wedding?

There are many different factors that will determine how much money is appropriate for you to give to the bride and groom.
One item to consider is how much each place setting may be at the wedding reception. Your close relationship to the bride will also play a part in your calculations. You must also think of what is financially feasible for you. Once you have factored in all these elements, if feasible, you may want to add a little more to help cover some of the other costs related to the wedding.
For some, a gift of $200 would be difficult, for others, it may not be an issue so I am uncomfortable giving you a specific amount. Wedding gifts should never be expected. All gifts from wedding guests should be appreciated regardless of how big or small they may seem.
